Financial Results of Intesa Sanpaolo Group for the 1st H 2021

The results for the 1st H 2021 confirm the ability of Intesa Sanpaolo Group to efficiently cope with the complex effects of the COVID-19 pandemic and fully meet the goal to get net profit in the amount of at least 4.0 billion euros for the full year.

The financial results reflect the Group's sustainable profitability, which is ensured through capitalization and liquidity, a stable and diversified business model and strategic flexibility in managing operating costs and asset quality.

Creation of value for all stakeholders will be achieved through synergy estimated at more than € 1 billion from the merger with UBI Banca, successfully completed without social costs, and more than € 6 billion from pre-tax profit allocated by the Group in 2020 and € 300 million of pre-tax profit allocated by the Group in the 1st H 2021 to further strengthen the sustainability of results.

Net income by the results of the 1st H 2021 amounted to 3.023 billion euros compared to 2.566 billion euros in the 1st H 2020, an increase of 17.8%. 

Gross income in the 1st H 2021 increased by 1.6% compared to the 1st H 2020.

Operating margin by the results of the 1st H 2021 increased by 5.9% compared to the 1st H 2020.

Operating income by the results of the first 1st H 2021 increased by 1.7% compared to the 1st 2020, including an increase in commission income by 13.2%.      

Operating costs by the results of the 1st H 2021 decreased by 2.3% compared to the 1st H 2020.
