PRAVEX BANK” JSC has joined to the information campaign of the National Bank #HryvniaAnatomy

From July 7, 2021, the All-Ukrainian information campaign on cash settlement security “Anatomy of the hryvnia” run by the National Bank of Ukraine was launched. The aim of the campaign is to teach Ukrainians how to quickly verify the authenticity of hryvnia banknotes and remind the people which banknotes and coins are in circulation and which are no longer accepted for payment.

PRAVEX BANK” JSC has become a partner of the information campaign and will assist in distribution of information on cash settlement security. Despite the widespread non-cash payments, cash ones remain in use in Ukraine, therefore, security and reliability of cash currency shall always be the focus of the central bank.

“The hryvnia security system is at a high level and complies with the security systems of the world's leading currencies. The Ukrainian hryvnia has modern innovative security elements that allow you to easily verify the authenticity of the banknote visually and tactilely. You just need to know what to pay attention to. In our information campaign, we will remind to Ukrainians one more time about simple rules of cash settlement security,” – told Oleksii Shaban, the Deputy Chairman of the National Bank of Ukraine.

He explained that the level of counterfeiting of national currency banknotes remains consistently low. In 2020, for 1 million authentic hryvnia banknotes there were 5.5 counterfeit banknotes. If to compare, in the European Union countries this figure was three times higher last year and amounted to about 17 euro banknotes.

At the same time, most of the counterfeit hryvnia banknotes withdrawn from circulation are of low quality. They are printed on printers and intended for inattention of citizens and cash desk officers. “We are convinced that the best way to protect yourself from receiving counterfeit money is the awareness of Ukrainians. That is why we want to teach every citizen simple rules that will help easily verify the authenticity of Ukrainian money,” said the Deputy Chairman of the National Bank.

In addition to training of cash desk officers of banks, post offices, shops, gas stations and pharmacies, the National Bank is launching a special web page (landing) “Anatomy of the hryvnia”, which contains answers to key questions about secure cash settlements.

The information campaign “Anatomy of the hryvnia” will last during July-September 2021 in all regions of Ukraine. It is supported by the Cyber Police and the Strategic Investigations Department of the National Police of Ukraine.

“Cashless settlements are becoming increasingly popular in Ukraine, but at the same time many people still use cash. That is why it is important for Ukrainians to draw the attention to simple rules, show how to verify money and distinguish them from counterfeit banknotes. Thanks to the All-Ukrainian campaign on cash settlement security “Anatomy of the hryvnia”, we will work together to improve the financial awareness of our citizens,” said Semion Babayev, the Deputy Chairman of the Management Board, Head of Retail Division of “PRAVEX BANK” JSC.
